KINDERGARTEN
The Kindergarten classroom is a welcoming and supportive space that emphasizes responsibility, indepedence, and respect for others.
WHAT WE DO IN KINDERGARTEN
Language Arts: Focuses on phonemic awareness, phonics, sight words, and comprehension. Read-alouds cover fiction and nonfiction in various genres.

Handwriting: Through writing workshops, students will learn and work through the writing process: planning, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. Kindergarteners will begin with telling stories through illustrations and labeling. As their phonemic awareness and handwriting skills develop, they will write Narratives, How-To, Informational/Research, and Opinion papers.

Math: Using Math in Focus and manipulatives, students learn numbers 1–20, addition, subtraction, numbers to 100, geometry (2D/3D shapes), and measurement/data (length, weight, sorting).

Social Studies: Lessons explore Rules, The United States and Communities, Maps, Countries, Economics, Then and Now, Cultures and Celebrations, Historical Figures and Leaders, Families, and Inventors. Students will also participate in Social Emotional lessons and focus on Growth Mindset.
