Buddies, Leaders, & Greeters

Our focus on elementary education allows 4th, 5th, and 6th graders to be school leaders. As the “older” students, they gain confidence, responsibility, and leadership skills earlier than peers in larger K–12 schools.

The second most common personal fear is the fear of public speaking.

Imagine your 5th or 6th grader standing in front of 160 students, faculty, and parents leading the weekly school assembly, and confidently reading the school announcements. How calm would you be?
Beginning in the Early Childhood Education Program, Meadowbrook students learn to find their voice and be comfortable presenting and speaking before their schoolmates and teachers. That is what a small, supportive setting like Meadowbrook can do.
 

Students learn to help one another and take pride in each other’s accomplishments through our buddy programs.
 

The popular buddy program pairs a 4th, 5th, and 6th grader with younger children in Preschool, Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten, to be their buddy to mentor throughout the year. Regular activities like reading books and doing in-class art projects build lasting friendships and benefit every student. Furthermore, our upper school students act as servers at our lunch program, where they interact with their buddies and other younger students daily.
 

Our older students are our school leaders.
 

In addition to acting as servers at lunch, older students are constantly helping younger students, greeting students each morning at the front door, and leading assemblies & school events. By the time they leave Meadowbrook, their poise and public speaking skills are ones most adults could admire. All students also have the opportunity to act as greeters to visitors on campus.
