Fretworks Winter Guitar Intensive:

Details: Settlement Music will be hosting four intense days of music making for guitar and electric bass students of intermediate skill level at The Meadowbrook School. The camp will culminate with a public performance at the Willow Grove Branch of Settlement Music School on Thursday evening backed up by a professional rhythm section. Students will learn techniques for soloing and improvisation on their instrument and review classic rock and jazz guitarists styles.

Instruction takes place at The Meadowbrook School. The performance will be at 6:30 pm on December 22nd at Settlement Music School (318 Davisville Road, Willow Grove). 

Registration Fee: $250.00

Details: Winter Break Camp will begin on Monday, December 19, 2011. We have four wonderful days of winter activities planned for the students. Bus transportation is not available for Winter Break Camp and students will need to provide their own lunches.

If you want to spend time with Mr. Pierce and Mrs. Katona learning the newest and latest then join us on Mondays from 3-5 in the computer lab.

Small Ball Basketball

Small Ball Basketball

Details: Small-Ball Basketball is a noncompetitive youth basketball league designed for children in grades K to 3. The program combines strategies with technical expertise from Roger Galo, founder of The Aim Center for Shot Development. Each one hour session includes a 20 minute instructional period.

The 8-week winter session begins on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Games are played on Saturday mornings in The Shuttleworth Gymnasium, located on the campus of The Meadowbrook School.

Registration Fee: $95.00
Registration Deadline: 12/16/2011
* A $10.00 late fee will be added to registrations received after the deadline.

Chess Club (1-2-3)

Chess Club

Details: 

David Lakata, of the Huntingdon Valley Chess Association will be leading our Chess Club again this year. Chess experience is not required, but all participants should have a genuine interest in learning how to play the game of chess.

The Chess Club will meet in the Science Room from 3:00pm – 5:00pm on Tuesdays. Meadowbrook will provide each student with a snack before the session begins. Parents are encouraged to meet their child in the Science Room at 5:00pm. Extended day coverage is available from 5:00pm - 6:00pm for an additional fee. to join the club. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask Mrs. Mockaitis.

Each chess club member will receive a certificate of participation at the completion of the club. The fee for Chess Club is $50.00. Please complete the attached registration form and return it to the office before January 10th

Wintramurals

This is to alert you to our after-school intramural sports program for the fifth and sixth graders. Activities such as basketball, floor hockey, volleyball, indoor soccer and others will be featured on Monday and Wednesday afternoons beginning on Monday, January 30, 2012 and ending on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. The sessions will last from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. All children are welcome if they can attend regularly.

We are conducting our intramural program rather than an interscholastic team for a variety of reasons. More children can be involved to a greater degree with the intramural format. A variety of activities can be held which may appeal to the different interests of the children.

A fee of $50.00 is being assessed to cover some of the program’s expenses. We ask that you pick up your child promptly at 5:00 PM. Please complete the permission slip below and return it to Mr. Casey by Friday, January 27, 2012.

2 - 4 - 6 - 8 - Meadowbrook is really Great! Do you want to show off your school spirit and cheer Meadowbrook onto victory? If so join Ms. Arbuckle and the cheerleaders from William Tennent

High School in Cheer Club. In Cheer Club, students will learn beginning cheerleading motions and

then incorporate those motions into cheers and chants! Students will also learn different jumps and some beginning tumbling! Cheer Club will not only promote school spirit, but team-work as well. No cheerleading experience necessary! So join Cheer Club and show off your MeadowbrookCchool spirit!
