Private Music Lessons

The Meadowbrook School has partnered with Settlement Music School to pilot a new weekly instrumental program for students in grades 3,4,5, and 6. This years program is called Rhythm Riot.

Rhythm Riot

Rhythm Riot is open to students with beginner and intermediate level experience on the guitar and drums. Students will work on common rock and popular music rhythms, harmonies, and beats from around the world. Songs by The Beatles and other "Guitar Hero" classics will also be introduced. Students will learn to perform in a large band ensemble and will appear in two public performances - one at Meadowbrook and one at Settlement Music School on Davisville Road. Drum students will explore a variety of percussion instruments to add to the rhythms found in rock and other popular musical forms.

Each instrumental class will meet on Fridays from 1:00 pm- 2:00 pm beginning November 18, 2011. Initially the drum students and guitar students will meet in separate classrooms. Towards the end of the pilot program, students will be combined into a larger guitar and rhythm band. Students will receive an electronic recording of the final performance to share.

Class size is limited to 6 percussionists and 6 guitarist. Students will need to provide their own drum sticks, practice pads and stands, acoustic or electric guitar and amplifier/patch cord at each class. If you would like more information about equipment rental please contact Settlement's Music Director, Patricia Manley. She will be happy to assist Meadowbrook families with their rental questions.

Tuition for the full 22 hours of instruction is $350.00. A payment of $175.00 is due within two days of a completed registration form or we cannot guarantee a spot in the program. If you choose to pay in two installments, the second payment must be received by Friday, December 9, 2011. Checks should be made payable to The Meadowbrook School, and earmarked "Rhythm Riot".
