Book Fair

Book Fair
September 21, 2011 & September 22, 2011

The Book Fair, sponsored by the Parents of Meadowbrook, provides an opportunity for you and your child to purchase high quality books, both paperback and hardback. This year the books will be supplied by Jabberwocky Books for Kids.

The Book Fair will be held in the Library on Wednesday and Thursday, September 21 and 22, from 8:10 am to 3:45 pm.   The Fair will also open at 6:00 pm on Thursday evening for the Corporation Meeting/Back to School Night.  We will close during the meeting but will reopen after your classroom visits.  Unsold books will be packed up for return Friday morning beginning at 9:30 am.

Traditionally at the Book Fair many families purchase books for donation to the library.  Our librarian, Cathy Keim, will have a display at the Fair with selections that would enrich our school library collection.  If you are interested in donating a book, please see Cathy.  Donated books are acknowledged with a book plate in the front of the book, and your child is given the opportunity to be the first child to borrow the book once it is processed into the collection.

If you would like to assist the children at the Fair, please sign-up in the Main Lobby or contact Heidi Kurtz  (215-424-6416)who is setting up the schedule of helpers.

Your child will be visiting the Book Fair in our Library at the time on the schedule below.  You are welcome to attend with your child during the classroom visit or at any time during the Fair hours.

The pre-school teachers have requested that, if possible, a parent or your representative attend the Book Fair with your child, at the scheduled time.  If this time is inconvenient for you, please feel welcome to visit with your child at any time during the Fair hours, including lunchtime.  The pre-school teachers do not mind you borrowing your child for this purpose.  However, if you are unable to visit the Fair during the day and would like your child to purchase books, please send written instructions with him/her so that the volunteers might have some direction to assist your child with book selections.

Your child should bring money to purchase books on the day of the class visit to the Book Fair.  Keep in mind that the price of paperback children’s books ranges from $6.00 to $10.00.  Hard cover books average $20.00. Very few are less expensive, and some are more.  Please send a note with your child if you have special instructions.  Volunteers will be glad to assist the children with their selections.

You may send cash or a check made payable to POM.  We will make change and send it home in an envelope.  If you send a “blank check”, please include a note for us with spending limits and a place for us to indicate the amount of the check.  The Book Fair is a “cash and carry” event and ordered items are prepaid.
