This winter Meadowbrook will be introducing an exciting new program called "Choose Your Own Adventure". The program will allow students in grades first through sixth to explore new and exciting projects each Friday afternoon (when we do not skate) from 1:45 pm - 2:45 pm. Students will choose one activity to participate in during three consecutive Friday's (non-skating). The second session will begin on Friday, February 24, 2012. A list of the courses offered at each grade level is listed below. Students who are participating in the music lessons, will join their chosen activity at 2:00 pm. Session II
February 24, 2012 - March 9, 2012
Grades 1, 2, and 3
- Chess Mates with Leteef Street - The students will learn the game of chess while honing tactics and improving strategic thinking skills. Chess Mates is taught by Coach Leteef Street. He has taught chess at more than 10 schools in the Philadelphia area and has coached local and state champions from the MasterMinds Chess Club"
- Intramurals with Mr. Casey - Register
Children in grades 1,2, and 3 will be mixed and divided into teams to compete in different sports and games. The development of sportsmanship, cooperation, and teamwork will be the goals of the program.
- Puppetry Theatre with Mrs. Carpenter - Register
In this enrichment activity students will work with Mrs. Carpenter to create and perform a puppet shows based on popular fairy tale stories.
- Cartooning and Animation with Ms. Schmitt - Register
Wacky pictures, creative drawings and lots and lots of fun. Join Ms. Schmitt in the computer lab as you make your drawings come to life.
Grades 4, 5 and 6
- Movie Making with Mr. Pierce - Students will learn how to analyze, explore and produce their own films using the schools iPads.
- Yoga with Ms. Armstrong - Register
Is there any better way to relax and unwind after a stressful week of tests and projects? Join Ms. Armstrong as you learn the ancient techniques of quieting your mind.
- Cooking Class with Mr. Stephens - Register
Did you know that Mr. Stephens loves to cook and his family recipes are world famous! For this special class Mr. Stephens has agreed to share his cooking tricks and secret recipes.
- Woodworking with Mr. Mosteller - Closed
Would you like to learn basic carpentry skills? In this enrichment activity you'll use your new woodworking skills to build your own bird house!
