Excellence in Elementary Education

Providing your child with a Meadowbrook education will be the single most important investment you will ever make in your child’s future.

An investment in private education will have profound effects on your child’s academic and social progress. In 2006, the National Center for Educational Statistics and The National Association of Educational Progress concluded that “in grades 4 and 8 for both reading and math students in private schools achieved at higher levels” than their public school counterparts. “The average difference in school means ranged from almost 8 points for grade 4 mathematics to about 18 points for grade 8 reading.” The average differences were all statistically significant.

Here in Abington we are very lucky to be surrounded by public schools which make adequate yearly progress, but that does not mitigate the importance of a Meadowbrook education. As the areas only elementary-specific private school, we are uniquely positioned to focus entirely on the development of students in the elementary years. We do not have multi-million dollar sports fields, a huge performance theatre, or a restrictive tuition model because these things do not matter to a student in elementary school. What makes a great elementary school?

  • Compassionate, experienced, high qualified and knowledgeable teachers. Here at Meadowbrook our teachers have an average of 15 years of experience. Many have pursued advanced degrees and certifications in order to be able to deliver the most appropriate instructional methods at the proper developmental milestones.
  • A warm, caring, small, nurturing environment for your child to grow both academically and socially. We are small by design. We truly believe that the combination of small class sizes with masterful teachers is the ideal learning environment. We sacrifice larger enrollments, marketing budgets, endowments, and capital campaigns to ensure that all of our financial and human resources are directed towards the growth of your child.
  • An involved and vibrant community. From grandparents to administrators, we are all responsible for enriching our Meadowbrook students’ learning. Your child’s learning outcomes will never be sacrificed for the benefit of an older student who is closer to high school graduation.

As a sixth grade graduate, your child will possess the academic foundation and flexibility to continue his or her studies at any of the areas middle schools. It’s because of this foundation of strong academics and our reputation for developing socially conscious students that our students are sought after by all of the areas independent schools. Our matriculation statistics demonstrate a wide range of school choices made by our graduates. Regardless of where our graduates choose to continue their education, they are successful.

We are not a charter school, parochial school, special needs school, or a large K-12 private school. We are simply an elementary school specializing in the successful development of elementary aged children. We believe our success over the last 90 years provides substantial proof of the importance of a Meadowbrook education. We are extremely proud of the success of our students, the compassion and dedication of our teachers, and the support of our community. We encourage you to come and take a look at Meadowbrook.
