A Diverse Community

Excerpts From The Headmaster's April 2011 Letter...

Dear Friends,

April is an amazing month. There is tremendous change, not only in the weather, wildlife, flora and fauna, but also in the students. There is a renewal after the cold winter months and the wet dreariness of March. Not only does the campus come alive with the colors and sounds of spring, but the students come alive with the warm weather activities and a sense that the end of the year is approaching.

There is great diversity at Meadowbrook which touches on the lives of all of us who study and work here. This diversity is welcomed and embraced by our community. As you know, earlier this year we all participated in a program where students from Korea joined our community for six weeks. This was a wonderful experience for our students and faculty alike. It is my hope that over the coming years we will continue to bring international students to Meadowbrook, students who will enrich our lives and educational experiences.

Being a part of a community is important. Today's students will be tomorrow's leaders and the more they understand and accept differences within a community, the more successful they will be. Meadowbrook students are in an advantageous position regarding an understanding of diversity as Meadowbrook is more diverse than most any other school in the area. I believe that this is an important part of who we are and is of great benefit for all of us who are part of the Meadowbrook community.

A Meadowbrook education is more than reading, writing, and arithmetic. It is infused with a diversity that is not artificial, but completely organic and natural.

Sincerely,
David B. Stephens
