Headmaster, Bob Sarkisian received the exciting news early in October. Mr. Bob Lieberman, one of Meadowbrook’s 2nd grade teachers had been selected by the National Liberty Museum to receive the Teacher As Hero Award. What an honor for Mr. Lieberman and Meadowbrook School!
Mr. Lieberman had been nominated by the board of directors at the museum and unanimously voted to be one of the six teachers to receive this award. Each recipient was commended for leadership in an area specific to the values associated with the National Liberty Museum. Mr. Lieberman was recognized for “embracing diversity and preventing bullying in his classroom.” Three of the six teachers were from Montgomery County schools.
All six teachers who received this award were honored at a ceremony and luncheon last month at the museum. Several Meadowbrook students and families attended the ceremony to celebrate with Mr. Lieberman and Meadowbrook School.
Additionally, Mr. Lieberman’s certificate stated “In Recognition of Outstanding Achievements as an Educator and Special Accomplishments in the Area of Persistence, Endurance and Compassionate Efforts in the Face of Serious Challenges.” This honor was given to him because of the challenges he faced after his neurosurgery in March 2005 and the difficult and lengthy recovery he accomplished in order to return to the classroom.
Not only did Mr. Lieberman win the award and the luncheon for his friends, colleagues, class, and their families, but the 2nd grade class at Meadowbrook School is entitled to visit the National Liberty Museum for an educator-guided tour this year, free of charge.
Please join us all in congratulating Mr. Lieberman on this prestigious honor. Well done! |
